Use your engineering background to grow into technology architecture and strategy. As technology delivery evolves, companies increasingly need people who understand how systems are built and can connect that technical reality to strategic business decisions. At Deloitte, you will move beyond hands-on delivery and join our Technology Strategy & Transformation team, working with experienced architects and strategy consultants to help C-suite executives of global organisations on complex IT projects to modernize application landscapes, define target architectures, assess platform choices and shape transformation roadmaps. This role is designed for people with a background in software development, engineering or similar technical delivery roles who want to move beyond coding to grow into architecture, technology strategy and advisory work. Your technical background will help you understand complex technology environments, challenge assumptions and advise clients on realistic architecture and transformation decisions. Deloitte will help you build your consulting, architecture and stakeholder communication toolkit needed to grow into the Technology Strategy advisory space.

Tasks

  • Translate business needs into technology solutions by working with clients and Deloitte teams to understand business challenges and help turn them into practical, well-structured technology solutions.
  • Bring an engineering perspective to architecture decisions by using your experience in software development, engineering or similar technical roles to challenge assumptions, assess feasibility and design realistic solutions.
  • Support solution and enterprise architecture work by contributing to architecture documentation, application landscape assessments, solution options, target-state designs, integration concepts and implementation roadmaps under the guidance of experienced architects.
  • Bridge business and technology by helping explain technical concepts, dependencies, trade-offs and risks in a way that business and IT stakeholders can understand.
  • Work on technology strategy and architecture topics, supporting projects involving IT strategy, enterprise architecture, application modernization, platform strategy, DevOps operating model design and large-scale technology transformation roadmaps.
  • Take part in client workshops and project delivery by supporting workshops, interviews, status meetings, analysis activities, documentation and presentations for technology strategy and architecture projects.
  • Develop your architecture and consulting toolkit by learning how to apply architecture methods, frameworks, structured problem solving, strategic thinking and stakeholder communication to complex client environments.

Requirements

  • You're genuinely curious, methodical, analytical and technically grounded.
  • You thrive in fast-paced settings, challenge assumptions constructively, and deliver on commitments.
  • You graduated in computer science, applied mathematics, engineering, information systems or a comparable STEM field.
  • You gained first professional experience (3-5 years) in software development, software engineering, Cloud, DevOps, platform engineering or a similar technical delivery role where you developed a good understanding of the software development lifecycle and how applications, platforms, data and infrastructure interact to support processes and people.
  • You enjoy understanding how systems work, but you are equally interested in why technology choices matter for the business and you are motivated to move beyond hands-on delivery into technology architecture and strategy.
  • You communicate confidently and clearly on technical topics to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • You communicate fluently in English. German or French fluency is required in addition.
  • Experience with solution architecture, enterprise architecture, IT transformation, stakeholder management or architecture frameworks such as TOGAF is an advantage — but not a prerequisite.
