This role combines responsibilities as a Scrum Master, enabling self-organising teams to reach their goals, and as a Senior Engineer, designing, developing, and testing software modules within complex systems.

Tasks

  • Enable agile team members to communicate, coordinate, collaborate, and drive improvement in practices, processes, and mindset to deliver value effectively.
  • Support the Product Owner in applying effective product and backlog management techniques.
  • Organise and facilitate cadence, events, and artefacts across the agile team.
  • Support leadership and Agile Coach with OVS ceremonies such as Program Increment (PI) Planning and OVS demos.
  • Proactively remove obstacles and impediments for the team.
  • Resolve conflicts and issues within the agile team.
  • Enable organisational effectiveness and continuous improvement through agile ceremonies and an open feedback culture.
  • Coach and support agile team members to grow and develop.
  • Engage with the Agile Coach and leadership to encourage and empower the agile team.
  • Role model and enable agile behaviours, providing a psychologically safe environment that promotes transparency and constructive challenge.
  • Design, develop, and maintain software modules ensuring adherence to software engineering best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define software requirements and ensure alignment of deliverables with business objectives.
  • Produce robust software builds from source code, meeting defined performance and security criteria.
  • Lead and participate in code reviews, ensuring quality and adherence to coding standards.
  • Conduct system integration tests, diagnose faults, and foster continuous improvement in software robustness and efficiency.
  • Utilize the latest development methodologies to innovate and enhance the software delivery process.
  • Contribute to architectural and system design decisions, ensuring scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Mentor junior engineers, share software engineering best practices and domain knowledge.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication, project management, and organisation skills.
  • Experience in leveraging Scrum, Kanban, and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodologies, including tools such as JIRA and Confluence.
  • Ability to proactively solve problems and resolve conflict.
  • Understanding of software development and lifecycle.
  • Growth-oriented and agile mindset and passion for change.
  • Dedication to producing clean, efficient, and maintainable code with a focus on robust software design.
  • Proficient in backend and frontend programming languages and deep understanding of software development life cycle.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software architecture, design patterns, and best practices.
  • Ability to lead and contribute to the evolution of software engineering standards and practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Higher Education in Computer Science (University, University of Applied Sciences or equivalent diploma).
  • Certified on agile project framework (e.g. SAFe).
  • Very strong communication and planning skills.
  • English language skills (written and verbal).
  • Self-motivation to drive initiatives and initiate changes.
  • Willingness to bring in new ideas and initiate changes.
