As a Smart Sensors Specialist at the Deep Tech Center in Orbe, Switzerland, your mission is to explore and develop new sensor technologies for process control, production quality, and breakthrough consumer experiences. Across hubs in Switzerland and China, the team advances manufacturing, consumer experiences, and research by leveraging robotics, sensors, AI, machine learning, and digital twins. This role offers the opportunity to accelerate Nestlé’s innovation mission through cutting-edge technologies and shape the future of food at scale.

Tasks

  • Lead the development of innovative sensor solutions that improve process control, product quality, and consumer experience.
  • Drive test bench, pilot, and proof-of-concept activities that turn scientific ideas into scalable, real-world applications.
  • Build robust data acquisition and connectivity approaches that enable reliable measurement and smarter decision-making.
  • Deliver technical support to projects and stakeholders with solutions that are effective, sustainable, and fit for purpose.
  • Advance digitalization by generating high-quality datasets and applying sensor expertise to modelling and automation initiatives.
  • Share knowledge through documentation, publications, and mentoring to strengthen capabilities across teams and projects.

Requirements

  • Bring strong expertise in sensor development, measurement science, and hands-on experimental work to create practical, high-impact solutions.
  • Apply knowledge of statistics, variability analysis, and metrology to assess performance, improve reliability, and support robust decision-making.
  • Use programming and data analysis skills with a high level of autonomy to advance connected systems, automation, and digital innovation.
  • Collaborate as a strong team player across disciplines, with PhD research or operations experience considered a strong plus.
  • Communicate fluently in English.
  • Thrive in a highly collaborative, innovation-driven environment, and be ready to move fast from concept to reality.
