Every day, around 3,000 employees of RUAG and RUAG Real Estate contribute significantly to the security of Switzerland by ensuring that the Swiss Armed Forces and other emergency and security organizations can carry out their tasks at all times. The newly created Flightline Joint Maintenance department at RUAG ensures the availability, provision and sustainable maintenance of the fighter jets together with the national Air Force.
Tasks
- Serve as the link between maintenance, pilots, and operations management to ensure the air force fleet is always ready for deployment and safe.
- Perform scheduled maintenance intervals, including system replacement and testing.
- Analyze error messages, troubleshoot processes, and perform structural repairs.
- Conduct the final pre-flight check and handover aircraft to pilots.
- Carry out visual and functional inspections after each flight (aircraft and system condition).
- Actively participate in domestic and international campaigns by accompanying pilots/jet crews to training flights.
- Work at Payerne Military Airfield and at other Swiss military airfields as needed.
- Transport and load spare parts, tools, and specialized equipment within the airfield.
- Handle documentation and quality management tasks.
Requirements
- Technical vocational training (EFZ), ideally with a mechanical engineering focus (e.g., polymechanic, automation technician, electronics technician, diagnostician or comparable profession).
- Practical experience and knowledge in flight operations and aircraft maintenance, ideally in a military environment, with required module qualifications/licenses according to EASA Part-66, Category B1 (Mechanics) or B2 (Avionics) of advantage.
- Category B driver's license mandatory; Category C/E helpful.
- Conversational (technical) English skills (min. B1) required; advanced usage of either French and/or German plus versatile digital competences (MS Office/SAP) desirable.
- High level of commitment and flexibility (for QRA, AMA, AMI, night/weekend shifts, and deployment changes both domestically and internationally).
- Highly resilient, team-oriented personality with a reliable, precise work ethic and a strong sense of responsibility/safety awareness.
- Swiss citizenship (due to working on Swiss Military property) is a prerequisite.
